What to Expect

Going to a church for the first time can be an intimidating experience. What is going to happen? Will I be dressed right? Will they tell me when I need to stand up or sit down? What kind of Bible will I need? What will the worship be like? Will there be people there like me? We don't want you to be unsure about trying Blue Sky Church. So... here's what you will want to know:

You don't need to dress up. Please be comfortable in your normal "weekend clothes." People will say hi to you and be friendly, but not invade your space. You can talk with new friends as much or as little as you would like. The coffee is strong and there is a great selection of teas to sip on during the service. It's complementary and you can help yourself in the lobby before or during the service. Bring your drink into the auditorium; it won't offend us or God.

The service lasts for an hour and 20 minutes; we start on time and end on time, so that you can make plans for the rest of your day.

We begin our service with one of our pastors teaching from the Bible (we read out of the New International Version), giving special attention to helping you apply the Bible in daily life. Then our band leads us in a time of worshipping God. We usually sing for 15 or 20 minutes with lyrics projected up on our big screen. Most people start off standing when we worship, if you'd rather sit, that's perfectly fine too. We always end our services by praying for those who would like prayer and singing one last worship song.

There's a Kids' and Junior High Program that goes on during the services. If you have children, you're welcome to drop them off in the Kids' Program, or keep them with you if you're unsure how they'll respond on your first visit. If you have a Junior High student, they will meet in the Youth Room as soon as the main service begins.
