Our Story
Blue Sky Church started with a team of 50 people moving to the Seattle area from Illinois to start the new church during the summer of 2004. Our first Sunday services began that October.
Steve Morgan, our lead pastor, started Vine Community Church in Carbondale, Illinois in 1995, which had grown to be a large church. While at a conference in 2003, Steve felt God's leading to "do it again," specifically feeling God's direction to start a church in the Seattle area. So Steve, his family, and the team relocated and made Seattle home. Blue Sky Church has grown into a vibrant church made up of people from all around the area. We are part of a small relational network of six churches who encourage and build up one another.

Our desire is to be a Seattle-area church where people can come in and learn about Jesus in a way that is impactful and life changing. We are a multi-ethnic church of students and professionals, married and single, old and young, children and youth. Our services are casual with great music, relevant teaching from the Bible, and a fun children's and youth program.
So why are we called Blue Sky?
When I awoke from my long, dark slumber...
All I could see was Blue Sky!
Finding God is like this! Sometimes it can feel as if we are covered by a thick, dark cloud as we go through daily life - we can't see where we're going, and finding God feels difficult.
Sometimes it's difficult to believe that the sun might ever shine on us again. But then there's a break in the clouds, and we can finally see light come through! We named the church Blue Sky because this is life with Jesus. We can finally see and breathe and love and live. There's Blue Sky!
